We're Not Dead! 1
Entry posted on Dec 06 by Mykola Bilokonsky , tagged Design,Development,Event,News

The Columbus Digital Adobe User Group had a rough time of 2011. We got off to a solid start but had a hard time coordinating meeting dates, projects and group direction as the year went on. We had some meetings in the first part of the year, but our facebook group seems to have vanished entirely. I have no idea why - the link to the group now simply goes directly to facebook.com, it's like it doesn't exist, but it was there!

In 2011 we had presentations about:

1) Adobe AIR for BlackBerry development (as part of the RIM promotion)

2) Introduction to Drupal, showcasing some Dreamweaver functionality in the process.

3) An introduction to Arduino, with emphasis on making Arduino and Flex play nicely together

4) A look at how to design for Mobile

5) Several meetings to design a new website. The design is complete, but this was never developed.

Moving forward, 2012 is going to bring an all-new direction to the Adobe User Group. Jenn Deafenbaugh is going to be taking over and revitalizing this group. Look for more announcements and information soon!

Congratulations Pam McClung

I want to congratulate Pam McClung on winning the Adobe $2100 software give-away for the first half of 2010.  She was very excited and surprised to win.  I would like to thank all of you who came to the meeting and a special thank you to Chris Shrier of Madison and Fifth for hosting the event and providing yummy food from Spinelli's Deli.

We will have one more $2100 software give-away toward the end of the year.  We have not decided what we are going to get entered to win, but we will have it planned out before the next meeting.

Mykola Bilokonsky Welcome to those just joining this group. We're going to be transitioning over to using Facebook as our central hub for Columbus Digital coordination. Tell your friends!

Columbus Digital: Adobe User Group This is our weekly happy hour. I think I'm going to be trying to use Facebook to manage our events moving forward - the adobe-provided groups page is simply not meeting our needs.

Speakers:
On Tuesday, April 20th, Kevin Hoyt, an Adobe Platform Evangelist, will be our guest speaker on a special presentation night. He is going to go over some of the great new features of Flash Builder 4 and the Flex 4 SDK. I have seen Kevin present before and he is very passionate about Flex and is a great presenter.

We have a dozen Flash Builder t-shirts to give away as well as a copy of Flash Builder 4 Professional to raffle off. This is in addition to our regular software raffles. So this is an extra chance for you to win some cool, free software.

Please RSVP for this event by going to the Columbus Digital website <http://www.columbusdigital.org/> , sign in, navigating to this event and select your RSVP option.

If you are receiving this event as an email, you can click on the link provided to go to this event page within Columbus Digital.

SPECIAL NOTE: Every 6 months, Columbus Digital is able to raffle off a coupon for up to $2100 worth of software at the Adobe store. We will be having our first give-away of 2010 at our June meeting.

For the next 3 meetings, you can be entered in the drawing to win the software giveaway. All you have to do to be entered is RSVP to the monthly meetings. You have a maximum of 4 opportunities to enter, April's, May's and June's meetings. It does not matter what your RSVP option you select, (Yes, Maybe, No). You just have to RSVP to be entered.
